SAILING ON THE ST. LAWRENCE RIVER

We enjoyed some family time while in Ottawa before embarking on our two cruises of the Rideau and Trent-Severn Waterways.

An hour's drive due south of Ottawa is the St. Lawrence River, the great seaway linking the Lake Ontario and the Atlantic Ocean. We drove to Prescott, a sleepy town with a small marina where our son keeps his Catalina 30. From here the famous 1000 Islands are about two hours sail west.

Unable to spare a few days vacation, our family offered us a day sail with our grandkids on Walkabout. The sun shone and the breeze was 17 knots. Perfection! Here are a few images of our adventure.
